Protein for Every Kind of Healthy Lifestyle

If there’s one thing we know here at FBG, it’s that there’s no one single way to be healthy.

Because, in order to be truly healthy, you’ve gotta be supported, happy, and doing what makes you feel good. And that’s a little bit different for everyone!

Just take us — Jenn and Kristen — for example. Jenn is busy chasing around and feeding three daughters (including seven-month-old twins!) and feels hella accomplished whenever she can get even a 10-minute workout in a few times a week. She doesn’t handle gluten well, but loves her on-the-go protein. Then there’s Kristen who’s a pup and kittie mama, a plant-loving pescatarian, and is always looking for a new fit challenge to train for (and crush).

Yep. Different healthy strokes for different healthy folks.

But one line of high-protein products we’ve both been digging on? Orgain.

Most Orgain products are certified organic and all are gluten-free, non-GMO, free of anything artificial, and are made without soy ingredients. With a crazy amount of variety — from shakes to powders to bars offered in grass-fed, vegan, and plant-based versions — it’s the one name we’re both reaching for these days to fuel us.

Read on for just a few of our fave tasty Orgain products …

Jenn’s (and Gwen’s) Favorite Products

Here’s a fun story: my daughter Gwen — like any five-year-old — loves when the mail and especially packages arrive at our front door. Most of the time, it’s pretty boring stuff for her that I unbox, but when I was sent a bunch of Orgain ready-to-drink All-in-One Nutritional Shakes?

She. Flipped. Out.

Especially when she realized there were Kids Shakes.

“Just for me, mama?”

Yep, just for you.

It was love at first sip — for her and for me. I love the Kids Shakes because they’re organic with 21 vitamins and minerals, 10 fruits and veggies, and 3 grams of fiber in them. Plus, they have 8 grams of protein — which is essential, because this girl tends to shy away from eating meat and cheese, so I always worry that she’s not getting enough protein. She loves them because they taste great (yay chocolate), and because they make her feel like a big kid — drinking a protein shake like mom.

And while I do love me some protein powder, these days, even getting the blender out to mix up a smoothie can be challenging (too loud at nap times … more dishes … difficult to do while holding a baby or two … oye!). So these All-in-One Nutritional Shakes have been a sanity saver for me.

They taste great (Strawberries & Cream is my current fave — tastes like a milkshake!), and keep me fueled with 16 grams of protein, 21 vitamins and minerals, and fruit and veggie blends inside. I almost always have one with me — whether it’s in my gym bag or my diaper bag.

It’s something I can grab quickly after workouts, on the way to school pick-up, while running errands, or — really — any time I need fuel fast and have my hands full. Which, er, is a lot of the time!

Kristen’s Favorite Products

While my schedule keeps me pretty busy, it’s mainly self-inflicted, so if I’m running late to meet friends at the farmers market for breakfast, it’s probably because of something like being overly optimistic about how quickly I would finish a long run on Saturday morning. Or maybe I got into a really deep conversation with one of the trainers at my gym about body positivity and, by the time I get home and shower, I’m running late for work — and, again, haven’t left myself time for breakfast. And since I really, really like having breakfast — especially after a workout! — that’s not ideal.

Quick post-gym shake, done (and delish).

When I plan my time well, whipping up a smoothie that requires a few ingredients is easy peasy, but since I can’t always be trusted to do that, I very much appreciate having powders on hand that work in a smoothie or in a shaker bottle with water or whatever plant-based milk I’m currently into. (At the moment, I’m all about the oat milk. I can heat and foam it for lattes in the morning, it works beautifully in smoothies, and the environmental impact is considerably lower than almond and soy milk.)

The environmental impact of my food choices plays a major role in my decision to stick to a plant-based diet, and while I’m not a vegan, I often opt for vegan products. The fact that Orgain offers a variety of vegan products had me excited from the get-go, and then, once I tried them? So. Psyched.

The Plant Based Protein Powder (which is vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, and made without soy ingredients) comes in six flavors: Creamy Chocolate Fudge, Vanilla Bean, Chocolate Coconut, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Naturally Unsweetened, and my new favorite, Peanut Butter. It’s flavorful enough that I can mix it up with just water for a quick boost, but it works really well with all my favorite smoothie ingredients (bananas, berries, coconut, kale, cacao nibs …). The fact that two scoops provides me with 21 grams of protein and 5 grams of organic fiber makes me almost as happy as that creamy consistency does.

Orgain also has a fantastic All-In-One Super Nutrition Powder (vegan, non-GMO, and made without soy ingredients), which contains 6 grams of organic fiber plus 50 organic superfoods with one billion probiotics per one-scoop serving. I tried out the Original flavor, and while it’s packed with veggies, herbs, greens, grasses, sprouts, and ancient grains, it also has enough organic berries and fruit to give it a slight sweetness. That means it’s tasty mixed with a smoothie or juice, but can also stand on its own with just water. However, there’s also a Berry version for those who like a little more fruity flavor.

And if you’re wondering if it works to toss ’em both in a smoothie together to get all the protein, fiber, superfoods and probiotics, the answer is a big ol’ super delicious yes.

There’s not just a little — there’s a lot of something for everyone … and we bet Orgain has something for your healthy lifestyle, too! Check out all of their offerings here and save 30 percent (!) when you use code “fit30” until June 30, 2020. –Jenn & Kristen
