MacBlair Cookstown’s presence in the Mid-Ulster plumbing and heating sector has grown significantly since the appointment of Shane Kealey as Plumbing & Heating Supervisor.
The Sandholes Road business is reaping the benefits of increased trade credibility and sales thanks to the wealth of experience that ex-plumber Shane brings to the business. Shane’s dedicated role in the plumbing and heating department at MacBlair Cookstown sees him responsible for sales and buying.
Branch manager, Paul Wilson, says Shane’s industry knowledge and experience has been well-received by their plumbing customers.
“Shane has been here just over a year and in that time he has given MacBlair Cooktown a credible plumbing and heating presence and we can see that part of our business growing and expanding for us, which is great. As a former plumber he knows the core range of products that we need to stock and our trade customers are happy to come in here knowing their needs are going to be met.”
The DIY market and Watershed Bathrooms have also seen a performance boost thanks to Shane’s unique offering. “Shane is able to answer technical queries and provide guidance to DIY-ers who visit our store,” says Paul. “If our Watershed Bathrooms sales team, Curtis and Ryan get technical questions from customers such as, can they site a sink in a particular position, they can call on Shane for his knowledge and experience. They work very well as a team.”
The Covid-19 lockdown closed the branch for seven weeks, but since reopening and introducing new Covid-19 procedures, MacBlair Cookstown has seen a marked improvement in customer service and business has grown steadily.
“We have completely streamlined the shopping process,” says Paul “We’ve introduced increased signage which directs customers exactly where they need to go. We have better procedures in place at the trade counter which has helped us to process customers purchases far more quickly.
Customers know that we are taking their safety seriously, that MacBlair Cookstown is a safe environment to shop in.”
