Each month, A.T. Still University’s (ATSU) Admissions Office in Kirksville, Missouri, will select student ambassadors to recognize and showcase. Student ambassadors are second-year students who speak and meet with prospective ATSU-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) and ATSU-Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH) students.

ATSU-KCOM Student Ambassador Spotlight: Cody Blentlinger

Cody Blentlinger, OMS II, completed his undergraduate degree at Graceland University. Blentlinger is originally from a smaller town near the Kansas City area. He loves sports, especially soccer, and is a regular participant in ATSU intramurals. Blentlinger also enjoys coaching and is an assistant soccer coach at Truman State University in Kirksville.

Blentlinger is an active member of many clubs, including Wilderness Medicine, Simulation, Emergency Medicine, Ultrasound, Spanish Medicine, and Sports Medicine. He also holds multiple leadership roles in those clubs, and currently serves as a chair in the Student Government Association.

Blentlinger’s professional goal is “to continually learn how to provide the best possible care for each one of my patients.”

“ATSU exemplifies the idea that we are all in this together, working to provide our patients and communities with the best possible healthcare as a team and institute, rather than individually striving to be ‘better’ than one another,” Blentlinger said. “This atmosphere is immediately noticed before you even step into your first lecture and one of the main reasons I chose to attend here.”

His own experience with ambassadors during his interview day led Blentlinger to get involved in the program.

“My favorite part has to be just having the opportunity to meet new people who are on the same path as me. Attending medical school is a huge life decision and getting accepted was one of the best feelings in the world. I love knowing that I am able to play a small part in adding to that experience for someone.”

Congratulations, Cody Blentlinger, for being our ATSU-KCOM Student Ambassador spotlight!

Tyler Hook, D2, and his family

Tyler Hook, D2, completed a bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University – Idaho. Hook is from the suburban Dallas area, enjoys baseball, football, movies, and loves food. He also tries to spend as much time as possible with his wife, daughter, and newborn son. Hook is currently serving as the secretary for the American Student Dental Association

Hook states that his professional goal is “to become an accomplished provider who can make a real impact on my community and provide to people of various needs and backgrounds.”

“ATSU helps me to achieve this goal by providing ample opportunities to interact with people from all different cultures, beliefs and ethnicities,” Hook said. “ATSU is preparing me to be able to help the underserved population and do my best to provide whole person healthcare to the entire community.”

Hook decided to participate in the ATSU Student Ambassador program to interact with and help future dental students in their journey to becoming a dentist.

“My route to dental school is unique and I hope to share insights that I have gained along the way with others who it may help,” Hook said. “One of my favorite aspects of being a student ambassador is the amount of people I am able to meet and help along the way.”

Congratulations, Tyler Hook, for being our ATSU-MOSDOH Student Ambassador spotlight!
