The Basics of Bikeway Selection at Intersections and with Parking
Host: VHB and the UNC Highway Safety Research Center
Wednesday, April 7, 2021 | 10:00am - 11:00am PT | Register
Since the release of the FHWA Bikeway Selection Guide in 2019, agencies have integrated the guide into roadway design policies, bicycle transportation plans, and corridor studies. The guide outlines a process for selecting a preferred bikeway and assessing selection in context of roadway conditions and traffic activity. But, practitioners frequently ask “How do I apply the Bikeway Selection Guide to complex intersections?” and “How do I assess the tradeoffs and options for bikeway selection with on street parking?” FHWA has responded to these questions by generating two new supplemental resources to the Bikeway Selection Guide: Traffic Analysis and Intersection Considerations to Inform Bikeway Selection and On Street Motor Vehicle Parking and the Bikeway Selection Process. During this webinar, authors will provide an overview of the information included in these resources.
FoRRRwD: You Have Crash Data, Now What?

This webinar focuses on the Systemic Approach pillar. State, local, and tribal agencies – come discover tools for crash data analysis that will help you make data driven, targeted decisions and how see how agencies have used them to analyze their data.
Level of Service Concepts in Multimodal Environments -- Traffic Engineering Manual: Chapter 5
Host: ITE
Wednesday, April 7, 2021 | 11:00am - 12:30pm PT | Register
This webinar is intended to discuss how the concept of level of service can be applied to multimodal environments and why doing so requires a shift in perspective from traditional approaches to level of service where auto use predominates. Well understood performance measures that relate directly to how well a transportation system is operating as a whole need to be supplemented by other measures that address the quality of travel from the travelers perspective especially when evaluating non-auto modes. The webinar attempts to distill the characteristics which contribute to level of service for different modes and to present the nature of trade-offs that must be considered in multi-modal environments to design and operate multimodal infrastructure in urban settings
