Watch This Australian Man Break the World Record for Longest Plank Ever
Clocking in at more than nine hours.
Daniel Scali, an Australian man with CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome), has broken the world record for the longest time in the abdominal plank position (male) with a time of nine hours 30 minutes and one second, according to the Guinness World Records.
Scali set the record on August 6, 2021, in Adelaide, Australia. His time beats the previous record of eight hours 15 minutes and 15 seconds, which was set in February of last year by ex-marine George Hood, who was 62 years old at the time.

Due to his CRPS, Scali’s left arm is in almost constant pain; in order to set the seemingly impossible record, he wore a compression band on the affected region of his arm to alleviate some of his chronic discomfort.
“When I was 12 years old, I fell off my trampoline causing a severe break in my left arm and as a result I live with a condition called CRPS,” he explained to Guinness.
“It’s the brain sending wrong messages to my arm, which is the affected area. So anything like soft touch, movement, wind, water, will cause me pain.”
Following his diagnosis, Scali turned to fitness (and planking, specifically) in an effort to manage his pain tolerance. Ultimately, his CRPS motivated him to work toward setting the record in hopes that he could inspire others experiencing pain to still pursue their goals.
“I wanted to prove to people that no matter what the circumstances you go through, no matter what pain barriers you have — if you put your mind to it and you believe you can do it, you can achieve it.”
