Here's How Much It Costs To Dress Like A Gossip Girl, Then And Now

    XOXO, it's expensive!

Hey there, Upper East Siders. BuzzFeed here, your one and only source into the fabulous fashion of Manhattan's wealthy teenybopper elite. OK, we might not be the only source, but we are here to answer one very pressing question: Exactly how much does it cost to dress like a gossip girl?

When it comes to Upper East Side queen bees, there's only one...at a time. Serena van der Woodsen is the OG "it" girl who originated Gossip Girl's fabulous style. Her chic mini skirt, retailing for $248, is part of the Torn collection by Ronny Kobo. This type of apparel is a typical choice for Serena on any given day — even in the comfort of her home, apparently.

Fast-forward a few years later, and Julien Calloway now rules the school, wearing a midi-length black skirt currently available for $365 on Shopbop. Looks like mini skirts have made a swift exit, and midi skirts are here to stay...XOXO.

Ah, how I miss the days of Blair Waldorf lamenting over Chuck Bass drama. Blair's distinctly preppy and polished style choices vary from the edgier Serena, as seen by this adorable $795 Moschino polka-dot blouse paired with a black jacket.

Blouses stand the test of time with Manhattan's elite, as we see Luna La wearing a simple yet stylish ruched-sleeve blouse during the first episode of the reboot. Originally $200 on Net-a-Porter, the shirt is currently 70% off and available for $60.

Serena's $395 color block sweater (tucked into a schoolgirl-style skirt) is so very 2012. Unlike the reboot girls, who sport plenty of oversized shirts, the original characters gravitate toward form-fitting attire with bright hues and bold patterns.

During a crisp New York City fall, there's nothing like wearing your cozy $1,480 sweater to private school! Actually, Julien's argyle sweater has been marked down to $1,184, but I digress.

While strutting through the city streets, Blair wears an array of peacoats, trenchcoats, and every coat in between. This $629 trenchcoat was previously sold at Barney's and pairs nicely with one of her signature berets.

For being from "old money," Monet must really like a bargain. Her trendy houndstooth jacket retailed for $105, one of the cheaper clothing items included in either series. The jacket is now out of stock but was discounted to a reasonable $47.25 on ASOS.

A little birdy told us that Blair's Blue Night Bird Marc Jacobs dress previously retailed on Shopbop for $628 and Stylebop for $685. As the most high-fashion-conscious character in the original series, we see her styled in designers ranging from Dior to Oscar de la Renta.

Monet's Versace pinstripe jacket is totally giving Blair Waldorf a run for her money. Originally priced at a whopping $2,950 (yes, that's way more than my rent), the piece slightly resembles Blair's aforementioned Marc Jacobs dress but with a modern flare.

When picking a cocktail dress, a 2000s Gossip Girl might opt for this colorful $2,075 frock worn by Serena in Season 5. A headband, chunky necklace, and Dan Humphrey would be required to complete the look.

The reboot's protagonist, Zoya Lott, is a major Dan and Jenny Humphrey mood. So what do we know about Little Z? She's attending Constance Billard on scholarship, living on the Upper West Side, and significantly less wealthy than her peers. However, she's still got a fabulous wardrobe, including this dazzling sequin dress, originally priced at $2,260.

We can't discuss Manhattan's elite without discussing their handbags! The infamously drama-inducing Georgina Sparks carries around a $2,195 red Valentino handbag during a scene in the original series.

And finally, in Gossip Girl 2.0, Audrey opts for a sunnier colored accessory with this yellow $2,400 Salvatore Ferragamo handbag — still in stock at Nordstrom if anyone's wondering!
